Amarillo Parks and Recreation seeking community input on master plan

Throughout multiple parks across the city of Amarillo, red X’s, either with duct tape or through spray painted signs, have been placed in numerous locations, serving as a reminder to the community of the looming decisions the city’s parks and recreation department are facing in the near future.  Officials with the department are seeking the community s help so they do not have to make the decisions solely on their own.  The city’s parks and recreation department is looking for the community s input to help prioritize the department s facilities and their services as the department’s master plan nears completion.

Amarillo sees increase of active COVID-19 cases over past week

The number of active COVID-19 cases increased over the past week in Potter and Randall counties, according to data from the city of Amarillo s public health department.  According to the COVID-19 dashboard on the Amarillo Alerts webpage, the two counties have seen an increase of 65 total COVID-19 cases since July 1, bringing the area’s total to 34,841 since the start of the pandemic in March 2020.  Of the total, 158 were active as of Thursday, an increase of 33 net active cases from July 1. There have been 33,910 reported COVID-19 recoveries, an increase of 29 recoveries from July 1, and there have been 773 reported deaths related to the virus, an increase of three COVID-19-related deaths from July 1.
