During Thursday evening’s meeting of the Amarillo Area Public Health Board, officials approved two measures, ultimately recommending Todd Bell, an associate professor at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Amarillo, as the city of Amarillo’s new public health authority and medical director for the Amarillo Area Public Health District, starting July 16.
This comes after Scott Milton, the city’s current public health authority and an associate professor at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Amarillo, recently announced he would be taking over as the regional medical director of region one for the Texas Department of State Health Services. Milton began as the city’s public health authority in late 2016.
