(Photo: Eurofighter) The quite unlikely Typhoon’s “Beast Mode” configuration might hint at a possible “missile/bomb truck” role in support of 5th and 6th gen. fighter aircraft. Last week the Eurofighter website published the latest edition of its magazine Eurofighter World. An interesting image can be found in the last page, showing a Typhoon rendering in an astonishing “Beast Mode” with 14 Meteor Beyond Visual Range (BVR) and two IRIS-T (InfraRed Imaging System Tail-Thrust Vector Controlled) short-range air-to-air missiles, along with an external fuel tank on the centerline station.

HAL awarded contract for 83 LCAs in₹48,000 cr deal

LCA contract On the LCA contract, he said, “This contract is the biggest Make in India defence contract till date.” The contract includes 73 LCA Tejas Mk-1A fighter aircraft and 10 LCA Tejas Mk-1 trainer aircraft at a cost of ₹45,696 crore along with design and development of infrastructure sanctions worth ₹1,202 crore. “The deliveries of all 83 aircraft shall be completed in eight years from now. HAL will be delivering the first three aircraft in the 3rd year and 16 aircraft per year for subsequent five years,” a Defence Ministry statement said. HAL has already set up a second assembly line to ramp up production from eight aircraft a year to 16. HAL officials said a third assembly line could be set up based on requirement.

Tejas aircraft (HAL)  Bengaluru: In order to boost its arms export to friendly nations, India approved on Thursday the export of indigenous Light Combat Aircraft Tejas, artillery guns, explosive, tanks and missiles, anti-tank mines and others. In total, the government approved the export of 156 defence equipment. These include 19 aeronautical systems, 16 nuclear-biological-chemical equipment, 41 armament and combat systems, 28 naval systems, 27 electronic and communication systems, 10 life protection items, four missile systems, four micro-electronic devices and seven other material.
