Thirteen Covid-positive undertrials escaped from an under-construction jail at Fideri village after cutting the lock of their barrack last night.
Nine of them were brought here from the Narnaul jail and four from Rewari city jail three days ago. They are accused of various heinous crimes.
The Fideri jail is functioning as a dedicated Covid care centre to isolate and extend medical treatment to Covid-positive undetrials. In all, 493 inmates from various districts were lodged here on Saturday.
The incident came to light this morning when the jail officials counted inmates. The accused used clothes to scale the jail wall after breaking open the lock.

CHANDIGARH: In a shocking jail break, 13 undertrial, including six facing murder charges escaped from the Covid jail of Phideri village of Rewari district on the night intervening Saturday and Sunday.
Besides six facing murder trial, rest six were facing charges of attempt to murder and robbery and one was facing charges of POCSO act along with murder. Four of them were facing trial in Rewari while rest nine were facing trial in Mahendergarh.
