Todd suffered a fractured hip and an acute subdural hemorrhage of the brain. She was taken to hospital, where she died the following day. A large contingent of Todd’s family were in attendance at the sentencing, with some reading out their victim impact statements to the court.

Rosemary Braithwaite appeared for sentence at the Nelson District Court on Thursday. Todd’s grand-daughter said she doubted if the family would ever come to terms with the way she died, which “was tragic and could have been avoided”. “She was selfless, kind and caring, and she had so much life left to live.”
There was disruption on Roose Road after the vehicle overturned under the bridge. Drivers were being urged to avoid the area while the lorry was recovered. It was also causing disruption on rail services. The incident happened after 9am on Friday. Network Rail said: This overturned lorry at Salthouse viaduct is disrupting @northernassist services between Dalton and Barrow while we inspect damage to the bridge. Thankfully, the driver is fine, but know the height of your vehicle. Cumbria Police said: A wagon has overturned under the railway bridge and is blocking the road. Please find alternative routes until the vehicle can be recovered.
