Filming for BBC series Gentleman Jack takes place at historic Oakwell Hall

FILMING for TV series Gentleman Jack is taking place at historic Oakwell Hall in Birstall this week. TV crews have taken over the hall, which is currently closed to the public due to Covid, to film scenes for series two of the period drama. Oakwell was used as a location in November and December for the show, and the production is expected to return again later in the summer. Eric Brown at Oakwell Hall said: The filming is all taking place in the Hall, with various rooms in our building featuring as a number of locations and settings in the drama.

To celebrate the week-long event we’ve compiled a list of some essential books written by and about lesbians that you need to add to your bookshelf.
