Say hello to Jocko, Hudson s new police dog
HUDSON Meet the newest member of the Hudson Police Department Jocko, who is a very good boy.
Jocko is the department’s new K-9 unit and will partner with Officer Sam Leandres, Chief Richard DiPersio said.
“This is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time,” the chief said. “It’s an important resource I wanted to bring to the department and to the community.”
The department picked Jocko up from a breeder Saturday. He is an 18-month-old German shepherd.
The department obtained a grant from the Stanton Foundation, based in New York and Cambridge. The $27,000 grant covered the cost of the dog, retrofitting a cruiser to make it suitable for the animal, veterinary care, and food for three years.

On June 4, 2020 Martin Gugino was seen approaching officers in the now disbanded BPD Emergency Response Team during a protest after curfew. The video shows Officers Aaron Torgalski and Robert McCabe shoving him over. Gugino fell to the ground and suffered a skull fracture.
