At last year’s San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel head honcho Kevin Feige announced the MCU’s insane Phase 4 lineup. It will ensure the franchise remains an ever-present part of our lives for years to come, and will also introduce all new characters and stories. But the slate was so jam-packed it didn’t include some very important and very profitable superheroes.
Black Panther 2 and
Guardians of the Galaxy 3 didn’t make the cut. Carol Danvers’ inevitable followup wasn’t given a release date either, despite coming off more than $1.1 billion in global box office sales a few months earlier. But now Disney is ready to go higher, further, and faster once again, because they have begun development on the film.

Marvel Studios has released a brand new promo for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, celebrating the moviegoing experience while also highlighting some key moments in previous films, including
Avengers: Endgame. Most importantly, the video, which you can check out below, also confirmed the official titles for two of their highly-anticipated sequels,
Black Panther 2 and
Captain Marvel 2.
Set for 2022 theatrical releases, Ryan Coogler’s follow-up film to 2018’s groundbreaking MCU film will officially be titled
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, while Nia DaCosta’s Brie Larson-led superhero movie has been retitled as
The Marvels. Both sequels are scheduled to start their respective productions sometime this year.

Starring Brie Larson, Iman Vellani, and Teyonah Parris, Captain Marvel 2 is now officially titled as The Marvels.
Captain Marvel 2 has gotten its official title from Marvel Studios. The sequel, which is scheduled to be released in Nov. 2022, is now officially called
The Marvels. Its name was revealed along with titles and release dates for many other upcoming Marvel Studios movies that make up Phase Four of the MCU. The news was revealed in a new Marvel Studioes Phase 4 trailer from Marvel Studios, and you can watch the video below.
Plans for the sequel to
Captain Marvel have been moving along for awhile as the last main thing we had learned was that Nia DaCosta has joined the project to direct the film, having earned a lot of attention for her work directing the reboot of
Candyman. We also knew that Megan McDonnell was in advanced negotiations to write the screenplay. McDonnell is part of the writing team for the
WandaVision series that debuted earlier this year.
Now, as Marvel Studios promotes the return to the cinema in 2021, they’ve confirmed a November 11th, 2022 release date for this sequel but also with the new name of
Having won two Oscars for
Nomadland â a modest movie shot in vans travelling across America with a cast of mostly non-actors â Chloe Zhaoâs next project is a dramatic change of pace.
The Chinese director is in post-production on a Marvel superhero movie,
Eternals, with a big-name cast that includes Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, Kit Harington, Kumail Nanjiani and Richard Madden.

While she shot it immediately after
Nomadland with a plan to be released first, the shutdown of cinemas during the pandemic meant Marvel held back its movies. So Zhao finished her more intimate drama, which won best picture and director at the Oscars this week, before getting back to
