Cumberland got their first score of the night in the first quarter on a fourth and goal from the nine as Logan Thilker was able to find Ross Hemmen in the endzone for a touchdown and the Pirates never looked back. The Cumberland defense pitched their second straight shutout, something the Pirates haven’t done in at least 25 years! It wasn’t all great for the Cumberland defense as they gave up 111 yards rushing to Jack Benschneider but Villa Grove could never punch the ball in the end zone.

Lytle Leads Liberty Past North Florida in ASUN Semifinals

The Lady Flames topped North Florida 65-52 to qualify for their third straight ASUN Championship title game. The third time was the charm for No. 2 seed Liberty in Friday s ASUN Women s Basketball Championship semifinal meeting with No. 3 seed North Florida at the KSU Convocation Center. The Ospreys topped Liberty twice during the regular season, but Emily Lytle s 24 points led the Lady Flames to a 65-52 victory on Friday, punching their ticket to a third consecutive ASUN title game appearance. Liberty (19-7) will square off with No. 1 seed FGCU (25-2) in the championship game, Sunday at 2 p.m. at the KSU Convocation Center. The Eagles topped No. 4 seed Lipscomb 59-44 in Friday s first semifinal.
