The Cumberland Pirates avoided a let down against Villa Grove with a 34-0 win on Friday night.
Cumberland would get scores from all three phases of the game with 2 offensive touchdown, 2 defensive touchdowns and a special teams touchdown.
Cumberland got their first score of the night in the first quarter on a fourth and goal from the nine as Logan Thilker was able to find Ross Hemmen in the endzone for a touchdown and the Pirates never looked back.
The Cumberland defense pitched their second straight shutout, something the Pirates haven’t done in at least 25 years! It wasn’t all great for the Cumberland defense as they gave up 111 yards rushing to Jack Benschneider but Villa Grove could never punch the ball in the end zone.
