Atlanta BeltLine CEO Talks New Westside Land Acquisition Strategies

Officials with Atlanta’s BeltLine Inc. are corralling potential developers for a roughly 20-acre site right off of the Westside Trail. It’s called Murphy’s Crossing, and it sits within the Oakland City neighborhood, bordered by Adair Park and Capitol View. Proposals are due Aug. 3. BeltLine officials told WABE Murphy’s Crossing is part of an overall more aggressive land acquisition strategy, which will ultimately lead to more housing affordability and equitable redevelopment. BeltLine president and CEO Clyde Higgs spoke about the redevelopment with WABE’s “All Things Considered” host Jim Burress and said, “the jewel” has already garnered a ton of interest from potential bidders.
