NOIDA: The UP government on Friday allotted 12.3 acres in the city to IKEA for what will be the Swedish furniture giant’s first ‘meeting place’ venture in India – a shopping, entertainment and business centre revolving around the flagship IKEA store.
The plot in Sector 51 was allotted by the Noida Authority to INGKA Centres India Pvt Ltd, which is a subsidiary of the INGKA group that owns most IKEA stores. The company began negotiations with the Noida Authority in October 2019 over terms of payment for the plot and the deal was finalised after it paid Rs 850 crore.
Chief minister Yogi Adityanath presided over the event virtually from Lucknow when Noida Authority transferred the land. The company paid Rs 56 crore as stamp duty to the government to get the land title transferred.

NOIDA: Like the ‘fast’ locals in Mumbai and ‘galloping’ suburban trains in Kolkata, Noida will start running ‘fast trains’ on the Aqua Line, starting Monday. The need for a faster service hasn’t, however, come from a glut of passengers but an acute dearth of them two years into the metro service, refocusing questions on Aqua Line’s route alignment.
From February 8, trains will traverse the 29.7km span of the Aqua Line around 9-10 minutes faster than they usually do between 8am and 11am, defined as morning peak hours. This is because the trains will not halt at 10 stations with low footfall, three of which currently have a daily average of just 15 passengers. NMRC managing director and Noida Authority CEO Ritu Maheshwari said, “The fast trains will help commuters from Pari Chowk reach Sector 51 in 28 minutes.”

New Delhi: In order to reduce the travel time of Aqua Line commuters, Noida Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (NMRC) recently decided to introduce “Fast Trains”. These Fast Trains will skip the stations having low ridership during peak hours. NMRC has implemented this from this month. From 8 February, commuters of the Noida-Greater Noida Metro can opt for these Fast Trains .

Beginning Monday, commuters of the Noida-Greater Noida Metro can opt for the Fast Trains which will skip some low-ridership stations during peak hours to reduce travel time on the Aqua Line, officials said on Thursday.
Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) Managing Director Ritu Maheshwari had earlier this week announced the new initiative aimed at saving time of commuter s travelling between the twin cities. The Fast Trains will begin service with effect from February 8, a spokesperson for the NMRC said, adding that all COVID-19 protocols like face cover/mask and social distancing are mandatory for commuters.
