Hussain (left) and Khan (right) have been jailed Two men have been jailed for their roles in an organised crime ring that ran a multi-million pound business supplying cocaine and heroin in the Bradford area. Waqas Hussain and Junaid Khan were the final two defendants to be sentenced as part of Operation Gladberry, a major police surveillance undertaking that led to the recovery of 21 kilograms of high purity cocaine and two kilos of heroin, with a street value of close to £1.25 million. “Furthermore, approximately £273, 000 cash was recovered, representing only a fraction of the monies generated by and laundered through this operation, as well as firearms and ammunition,” the Recorder of Bradford, Judge Richard Mansell QC, said.
Nazir A teenager was forced off the road by pursuing police officers during a 110mph chase in which he jumped red lights and went the wrong way down a dual carriageway. Adam Nazir, 18, was subject to a suspended sentence order when he was spotted at the wheel of a Volkswagen Golf shortly after midnight on April 21, Bradford Crown Court heard today. Nazir, of Agar Street, Girlington, Bradford, was sent to a young offender institution for 18 months for driving dangerously in breach of the order imposed for a violent incident committed when he was in custody. Prosecutor Eleanor Durdy said Nazir pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and driving uninsured and without a licence.

Ummar Yaqoob, 31, and his former girlfriend Kiran Hussain, 26, turned blank weapons into ‘slam guns’ to sell them on as part of a business they ran. Hussain would buy cartridges through her ebay account, which she stored to be used on the guns. Hussain, of Ophelia Close, Little Horton, would drive Yaqoob to locations to sell the slam guns, with Yaqoob described as the dominant partner in the relationship.
