Matthew Nerber, a member of the Goldring Arts Journalism program at Syracuse University, reviews I and You and found themes in the work that resonate with current times, in the relationships story, as well as observations about the process of creating theater without in-person audiences.
“I and You” takes place entirely in Caroline’s bedroom, and director Melissa Crespo says that watching the relationship develop between the two characters is especially poignant today:
“And this unlikely friendship that evolves really shows us that we are social creatures, and we need each other. And we have so much in common if you really just sit down and talk for a while.”

With weather forecasts promising a long overdue warm up, Central New Yorkers should be able to get outside and enjoy some fun, spring activities this weekend.
You can learn about Onondaga Lake bird species on a bird walk, visit a pop-up food truck event at the Inner Harbor, participate in the monthly Folksmarch at Breitbeck Park, and take in some exciting auto racing and demolition derbies at Fulton Speedway.
The Fairgrounds will be having a Dino Safari dinosaur drive-thru show and the family favorite baseball movie, “The Sandlot” will be shown on the big screen.

Happy Mother’s Day weekend!
There are many ways you can celebrate the day this year as things finally begin to appear to be returning to normal.
You can take your mom to Beak & Skiff’s for a lunchtime picnic, buy her some flowers at a sale at the Sangertown Mall, purchase her a virtual ticket for the new streaming Syracuse Stage play, “I and You,” or treat her with a State Fair snack at the Fairgrounds.
And baseball is back in Syracuse! The Mets are back in action at NBT Stadium all week against Scranton after a season away.

Last month was Phoebe Holden’s first time doing a crossover production between theater and film. Although she rehearsed in person as Caroline for Syracuse Stage ‘s production of “I and You,” the New York University graduate performed her role in front of a camera.
“It was another really interesting way back onto the stage that made me consider how much of what we were doing is going to continue to be done after we can have live shows again,” she said.
