The following is a summary of some of the files our officers responded to. Unlocked vehicle with keys left inside stolen in Invermere On Wednesday, June 23 , a resident on Third Avenue in Invermere reported his 2005 Dodge SX was stolen from the property sometime between 11 a.m. and 10 p.m. The vehicle had been left unlocked with the keys in the vehicle. The vehicle had B.C. license plate KN067G on it when it was stolen. Impaired driver removed from road at Windermere

RDEK hosting public info meeting on debris flow | Columbia Valley, East Kootenay

Posted: June 14, 2021 RDEK hosting public info meeting on debris flow The Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK) is hosting a public information meeting to provide an update on the Cold Spring Creek Debris Flow Mitigation project and Fairmont Flood and Landslide Service on June 16 at 7 p.m. The meeting will be done electronically, so you can participate from wherever you are. The meeting will include an update from BGC Engineering on the Cold Spring Creek Risk Analysis Assessment, as well as updates on the project and status of the grant application. There will also be an opportunity for questions and answers with the public.

Evacuation Alert remains in effect in Fairmont | Columbia Valley, East Kootenay

Posted: May 26, 2021 Evacuation Alert remains in effect in Fairmont The Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK) this morning reports that the Evacuation Alert remains in effect for about 200 properties in Fairmont Hot Springs. “Accumulated debris has reduced the capacity of the creeks to withstand a future event. Planning for debris removal is underway,” reported RDEK information Officer Loree Duczek. “There was no measurable precipitation overnight at our Fairmont weather station. The creeks are running clear this morning,” she added. “There are no significant changes to report at this time. There is a chance of thunderstorm activity throughout the day today and we will be continuing to keep an eye on the weather,” Duczek said.
