Italy: GLS Renews It Fleet with 120 IVECO S-WAY (bio)LNG Vehicles – Advanced BioFuels USA

(IVECO/NGV Journal)  GLS, one of the main express couriers in Italy, updates its fleet with a greater focus on environmental sustainability. Thanks to its partnership with IVECO, 120 new IVECO S-WAY LNG and bio-LNG powered vehicles will join its fleet. This initiative is part of GLS’s broader Climate Protect Project, which aims to offset 100% of the emissions it produces by 2022 through certified offset programs and significantly reduce emissions by 2025 by using eco-friendly transportation systems. The new NGVs – which will replace a diesel vehicle fleet made up of 70% Euro VI vehicles and 30% Euro V vehicles – will have a significantly positive impact on the environment: using fossil methane will result in a reduction of CO2 amounting to -7,300 tons, which would be equivalent to replacing 745 diesel vehicles with electric ones powered by 100% renewable energy, or planting 146,000 trees covering an area comparable to 487 football fields. With biomethane, this value increase

First Biomethane Fueling Facility Opens in Southern Italy – Advanced BioFuels USA

(IVECO Italy/NGV Journal) The first bio-LNG station in Southern Italy, a project born and implemented thanks to the collaboration between IVECO, Vulcangas and Distributori Papa for economic sustainability and environmental protection, is located in San Vitaliano, on the Nola motorway exit on the A30 Caserta – Salerno. The new facility, which also supplies bio-CNG, represents a fundamental step towards decarbonization of the transport sector. During the opening ceremony, IVECO delivered 10 S-WAY trucks powered by LNG: six to Autotrasporti Vitaliano, two to Autotrasporti New Alfieri and two to Bruscino Freddo srl. “We are honored to have taken part in the inauguration of a new service station, the first of its kind in Southern Italy. At IVECO, a leader in the natural gas vehicle sector, we strongly believe in biomethane, today’s solution to the demands of tomorrow,” said Fabrizio Buffa, Market Alternative Propulsions Manager at IVECO Italy.

Filling Station in Turin Becomes Northwest Italy s First to Offer Biogas – Advanced BioFuels USA

(IVECO/NGV Journal) The collaboration between IVECO, ENGIE, and VULCANGAS has reached an important milestone, just a year after the opening of a natural gas station on Strada delle Cascinette, in Turin: it has become now the first filling station in Northwest Italy to supply bio-LNG and Bio-CNG. The station is mainly dedicated to heavy-duty vehicles and has two LNG and four CNG dispensers, as well as a charging point for electric vehicles, powered by a photovoltaic system on the roof. The biomethane distributed at the station is produced at a plant located in the province of Lodi, where it is purified and liquefied. By supplying this renewable fuel, the station (registered with GSE, the company identified by the Italian Government to pursue and achieve environmental sustainability), becomes the last link of a 100% green energy supply chain.
