Suspect Arrested in Virginia Beach Hit and Run
VIRGINIA BEACH A suspect has been arrested in connection to a hit-and-run crash in Virginia Beach on Friday that saw a New Bedford native struck and killed.
Phil Pereira, a 40-year-old father of three who was born and raised in New Bedford, was killed after his motorcycle was struck by a pickup truck on May 28.
According to a press release from the Virginia Beach Police Department, a vehicle matching the truck s description was found in Binghampton, New York.
Police said the vehicle s owner, 47-year-old Nghiem Nghi Nguyen, turned himself in and is currently being held in the Virginia Beach City Jail.
A motorcyclist was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Virginia Beach Friday night, and the Virginia Beach Police Department is asking for the public's help in finding the person responsible.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. Virginia Beach Police are investigating a single-vehicle crash that sent one person to the hospital with serious injuries Friday morning.
It was around 4:32 a.m. when police were called to the crash in the 4800 block of Ferrell Parkway.
Police said a 4-door sedan was traveling westbound on Ferrell Parkway when the driver ran off the road and hit a tree in the median.
The sedan crossed over into the eastbound lanes. The driver, a man, was thrown from the car during the crash. He was the only person in the car.
