Suspect Arrested in Virginia Beach Hit and Run VIRGINIA BEACH A suspect has been arrested in connection to a hit-and-run crash in Virginia Beach on Friday that saw a New Bedford native struck and killed. Phil Pereira, a 40-year-old father of three who was born and raised in New Bedford, was killed after his motorcycle was struck by a pickup truck on May 28. According to a press release from the Virginia Beach Police Department, a vehicle matching the truck s description was found in Binghampton, New York. Police said the vehicle s owner, 47-year-old Nghiem Nghi Nguyen, turned himself in and is currently being held in the Virginia Beach City Jail.

Virginia Beach Police are investigating a single-vehicle crash that sent one person to the hospital with serious injuries Friday morning. It was around 4:32 a.m. when police were called to the crash in the 4800 block of Ferrell Parkway. Police said a 4-door sedan was traveling westbound on Ferrell Parkway when the driver ran off the road and hit a tree in the median.  The sedan crossed over into the eastbound lanes. The driver, a man, was thrown from the car during the crash. He was the only person in the car.
