Fulton County Traffic Safety and Stop DWI recognizes grads | The Daily Gazette SECTIONS The Fulton County Traffic Safety Board and STOP DWI recently presented scholarship awards to two local graduating seniors.  The Antone “Tony” Ralbovsky Scholarship Award, presented annually to a student graduating from one of the Fulton county high schools, was given to Jillian Bazan. A recent Broadalbin Perth High School graduate, Bazan will be attending SUNY Adirondack with plans of majoring in Criminal Justice.  The Ron Hill Scholarship Award, funded by Elaine and Jim Hill, was awarded to Gloversville High School Senior Bradley Wisniewski. Wisniewski will be studying mechanical engineering at Rochester Institute of Technology this fall.

Middleburgh housing project draws scrutiny from state Department of Environmental Conservation | The Daily Gazette SECTIONS Shares2 The state Department of Environmental Conservation is investigating a housing development project in Middleburgh after town Planning Board members approved substantial changes to the project without appropriate review or additional public input.  Amid the ongoing DEC investigation, Middleburgh Planning Board members and village residents clashed over the Middleburgh Meadows project at the Planning Board’s monthly meeting last week.  A major focus of the debate was the waiver the Planning Board issued for Carver Companies, the project’s developer, to skip village approval for changes to its development plan.

Canajoharie summer program welcomes back children | The Daily Gazette SECTIONS Shares0 CANAJOHARIE – Some 40 youngsters started summer camp this week at the Canajoharie Youth Center’s summer program after the coronavirus pandemic essentially shuttered so many activities for children everywhere last summer. Annually, the Canajoharie summer program open to kids from Canajoharie, Palatine Bridge and Fort Plain  draws a significant number of attendees. In 2019, 75 children took part in the program’s extensive in-house and field trip activities. “We have a lot of things planned for the kids and it’s going to be a lot of fun,” said Director Janice Dillenbeck of the 2021 program, where children from 8 to 13 are welcome to participate.
