Emergency crews rescue injured cross-country skier in Northampton NORTHAMPTON POLICE DEPARTMENT Published: 2/25/2021 2:29:52 PM NORTHAMPTON – Emergency workers carry an injured cross-country skier out of the Fitzgerald Lake Conservation Area in Northampton early Monday evening. Northampton firefighters and police hiked into the woods to treat and stabilize the skier, and with the assistance of an all-terrain vehicle, transported her from the woods to a waiting ambulance where she was taken to a hospital, the Northampton Police Department reported on its Facebook page. Police said the skier had been located about 1.5 miles inside the conservation area. By SCOTT MERZBACH - Today AMHERST Warning signs cautioning people against swimming at Puffer’s Pond and in the Fort River off Stanley Street have been posted by town.
