Quaglieri Paces Noles with New 100 Back Record

GREENSBORO, N.C.  – Florida State sophomore Tania Quaglieri became the fastest Seminole in history in the 100 back, clocking a time of 52.17 at the 2021 Women’s ACC Championships and the Greensboro Aquatic Center on Friday. Quaglieri advanced to the championship heat of the 100 back in eighth place after swimming a personal best of 52.97 in prelims. Working from lane eight at night, Quaglieri used her speed in the front half of the race to set the tone. The Nonatola, Italy, native, touched in sixth place (52.17), dropping almost two seconds from her seed time (53.90) in order to set the school record.  She took down McKayla Lightbourn’s mark of 52.39 that was set back in 2014.

January 27, 2021 - by Ian Bolger No. 15 Noles Finish 2020-21 Undefeated TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The No.15/21 Florida State swimming teams defeated the University of North Florida and the University of Tampa on Wednesday afternoon at the Morcom Aquatics Center. The No. 15 men took the victory over the Spartans, 207-55, to finish 2020-21 undefeated (6-0, 1-0 ACC). It’s the seventh time in program history and first since 1997 the Noles finished the regular season unbeaten. “We had a really great day. Some awesome swims and some exciting things to look forward to for ACC’s,” FSU head coach Neal Studd said. “Incredibly proud that the men finished up an undefeated season.”

January 8, 2021 No. 16 Men Defeat LSU, No. 22 Women Tie TALLAHASSEE, Fla.  –  The No.16 Florida State men’s swimming and diving team (3-0, 1-0 ACC) picked up its third win of the season on Friday, defeating RV LSU 170.5-91.5 at the Morcom Aquatics Center. The No. 22 FSU women (1-1-1, 0-1 ACC) tied the RV Tigers 131-131 as both teams competed in swimming events only. “I thought we had a pretty good day,” FSU head coach Neal Studd said. “We’ve only been back in the water this week and I liked what I saw. We lost at LSU last year on the women’s side, so for us to tie is a step in the right direction. We had some great swims from both teams and I am really proud of the effort.”
