Councilors approved a resolution Tuesday evening directing Town Manager Alex Brown to apply for funding for the final phase of the town’s ongoing Ridge Road reconstruction project. The current $2.7 million phase will see Silver City’s busy southern artery rebuilt from N.M. 90 to Bob White Drive over the next several months, including bike lanes, curbs and gutters and a sidewalk on the east side of the road. As designed, the town’s project will eventually extend to Silver City limits near Lance Drive, from which point Grant County has future plans to extend similar improvements all the way to the Grant County Detention Center.
