Embattled suspended director general of Malawi National Examination Board (Maneb) and three others have been given court bail.
Chiunda: Freed on bail
The Zomba Senior Resident Magistrate Court has granted Gerald Chiunda, and three others bail in the MSCE leak case.
The four were charged with failure to exercise due care and attention in relation to the security of national examination materials in accordance with the Maneb Act.
The court has ordered since Chiunda and two others to pay a bail bond of K100, 000 cash whereas the fourth accused person has been asked to pay a bail bond of K50,000 cash.

The Zomba Senior Resident Magistrate Court has granted bail to Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) Commissioner Linda Kunje and his official driver Jones Tewesa.
Commissioner Kunje and the driver Tewesa were arrested by the Eastern Region Police for obstructing of President Lazarus Chakwera’s convoy on Thursday last week.
In her Bail ruling, Senior Resident Magistrate Hellen Chitsanzo Kachala ordered the two to present bail bond in the sum of MK100, 000 each, two blood relations as surities and surrender travel documents.
Zomba Police Deputy Publicist, Patrick Maseko identified the conflict as Cosmas Kanthumba.
Maseko, the convict committed the offence when the victim, who was in the company, of her friend went to watch a football match.
On their way back home, they passed by Kathumba’s home who dragged the victim into his house before defiling her.
Her friend, who managed to escape, reported the incident to the victim’s mother who rushed to the scene where the victim admitted to have defiled the victim.
Appearing in court, Cosmas pleaded not guilty. However, the state paraded its witnesses who proved beyond reasonable doubts.
