WASHINGTON, May 13 (Xinhua) Global public health challenges call for enhanced international cooperation, in particular China and the United States working with each other, in a post-pandemic world, a U.S. expert has said. Collaboration and coordination between the U.S. and China in public health will be crucial for the economies of the two countries and also for the global economy, Zhuo Chen, associate professor on health policy and management at the University of Georgia, told Xinhua in a recent interview.
Given the United States and China are the two largest economies in the world, the flow of goods and people will have to be revitalized at some point, even if not at a pace on a par with the pre-pandemic level, said Chen.

An overall increase in primary care clinicians has not closed the gap between rural and urban health care disparities. That’s according to research from a University of Georgia scientist.
“We know that rural patients die early from heart disease and stroke. In general, they have a higher mortality,” said Donglan “Stacy” Zhang, assistant professor of health policy and management in the College of Public Health. “We wanted to explore the upstream factors that drive that difference.”
