A few years ago at Auckland s Basement Theatre, Mick Innes told the crowd that when the grim reaper came calling you d see claw marks on the floor.
The actor had already lived, according to those that knew him, many lives within his then 63 years. In his show,
Zen Dog, he reflected on his history which included, among other things, drug addiction, a few marriages, rehab and a psych ward.
The first series of
Zen Dog, an ad-libbed production in which Innes told stories from his own life, came to an end when he had a heart attack and stroke on stage. But that didn t keep him out of the spotlight for long. He was back in the theatre a few years later with an updated
