Six months out from the biggest Rugby League World Cup in history organisers are forging ahead with the event, while other codes have got cold feet.

The Rugby League World Cup for men, women and wheelchair athletes will draw teams from 21 nations - including several which are still struggling with Covid-19.
Thirty-two teams from countries within the United Kingdom, Europe, North, South and Central America, the Pacific Islands and the Caribbean have qualified.
The tournament in England runs between 23 October and 27 November and for the first time, all three competitions will run concurrently.

A 12-year-old league player left the field in tears after being told she couldn t play in the team she d been a part of for seven years because she was a girl.
McKenzie Anderson-Tito was playing in a tournament with the Ngongotahā U13 in Rotorua on Sunday when an organiser told her girls aged 12 and over were not allowed to play in mixed teams so she had to get off the field.

The final of NZRL’s inaugural National 20’s competition will kick off this coming Saturday 10th of April at Opaheke reserve. Unbeaten Auckland Blue and competition dark horse Central Districts will battle it out for the top spot at 2pm following the Fox Memorial opener between Mt Albert and Pt Chevalier at 12pm.
This highly anticipated round one rematch has all the signs of a classic, as the underdogs come into this clash off the back of a stellar cinderella run.
After going down in their first game against the Auckland side, Central Districts have won five straight en route to the final including a late comeback against third-place South Island and a gritty two-point victory against heavily favoured Auckland White.
