The Jefferson City Jays are running into a bye week at the right time. The Jays are coming off their best performance of the season last week, a 58-14 win on the road against the Moberly Spartans, and have been using the off week to come out even better next week.
For the third straight season, the Helias Crusaders are the city champions. The Crusaders knocked off Capital City 24-22 a week ago and used a huge first-half performance on Friday to beat the Jefferson City Jays 38-21 in Central Missouri Activities Conference play at Adkins Stadium to claim the city title.
It’s time to earn some bragging rights. After a 3-1 start, the team’s best in school history, the Capital City Cavaliers are set to try for their first win against another Central Missouri Activities Conference opponent they lost to in their first two seasons. This time, it’s the crosstown rival Jefferson City Jays, with kickoff at 7 p.m. today at Adkins Stadium.
The Jefferson City Jays have a big game tonight at Adkins Stadium as the Capital City Cavaliers will be on the opposite sideline. Despite all the surrounding noise coming into the game, the team on the other sideline is not a worry to the Jays. “It truly is just another week for us,” Jefferson City coach Damon Wells said.
