Executive Candidate Profile: Team RTZ ready to clean up the AMS

The candidates that make up Team RTZ are coming from an outside perspective not one of them has been directly involved with the AMS in their prior years at Queen’s. Team RTZ consists of Presidential candidate Zaid Kasim, Sci ’21, Vice-Presidential (Operations) candidate Tiana Wong, ArtSci ’21, and Vice-Presidential candidate (University Affairs) Ryan Sieg, Kin ’21. In an interview with  The Journal, Kasim said he’s running for AMS President because of his frustration with the organization.  “I became fed up, and I became fed up with the inaction, and the incompetency, and how much wasn’t getting done,” he said. “I was like, ‘if it’s broken, then someone’s gotta go fix it’ [.] So I figured I would do it myself.”

Credit:  Journal File Photo Following an extended nomination period, two teams have successfully submitted nomination packages for AMS executive in the upcoming election.  The nomination period was initially set to close on Jan. 25; however, it was extended by one day to allow candidates extra time to gather signatures. Second team seeks nomination for AMS executive

Credit:  Journal File Photo Ahead of the deadline for entering the race, a second team is seeking the nomination for AMS executive. Potential Presidential candidate Isaac Sahota, ArtSci ’22, Vice-Presidential (University Affairs) candidate Amelia Cockerham, ArtSci ’22, and Vice-Presidential (Operations) candidate Tabassum Pasha, Comm ’21, have secured enough signatures to put their names in the running for AMS executive. The original policy stated teams must collect 380 student signatures by Jan. 25 to get their names on the ballot. On Jan. 24, however, the team was notified that the required signature count was reduced to 190 and were given a one-day extension.
