The Weekly TV Discussion Post For July 25th, 2021

The Tomorrow War I had gotten into Ted Lasso about halfway through its first season last year because I, like many others, were just scoffing at the concept that was based on some goofy TV spots from years ago. But, being an Apple TV+ subscriber, I’ll try almost anything they produce for at least an episode because you never know. And I ended up becoming an evangelist for the series last year, one of the perfect summer-pandemic-era shows with its optimism, hope, and support-building elements. All of that is carried forward to the new season here which launched with the first episode and I couldn’t be happier. I don’t want to binge this show. I want to savor it week to week and just enjoy those moments. This one is mostly about where the team is now that they’ve been booted down a level and how they’re all coping. A new character or two enters the picture and we see how lives are different, such as Roy Kent, quite possibly one of the best characters ever put to screen. I ca

The Weekly TV Discussion Post For July 18th, 2021

The Tomorrow War With a six-episode series based on the book by Grohl’s mother out a couple of months ago, I’d been wanting to watch it but ended up watching the last one first since it was focused on Geddy Lee of Rush. With Lee and that band being the most influential ones on my life at a pivotal time, I was definitely curious to see what it’d be like. It’s an interesting show and Grohl can definitely pull it off here in doing the interviews and engaging with people, as well as his mother. Geddy and his mother were fantastic and seeing the stories and influences on him says so very much about the music as well. The real discovery in the long run may be Grohl’s daughter Violet, however, if she really does make a musical pursuit.

The Weekly TV Discussion Post For June 27th, 2021

I Kill Giants I burned through a lot of stuff in the week prior and felt a bit of a hard time really getting into the swing of things this week. That said, we did cover some stuff as we made progress here and there, but it’s mostly incremental. The one big thing that I got into that I managed to make some good progress on was  Katla. An eight-episode series from Iceland, I got through the first six over the week and just love the weirdness of it and the gorgeous visual design for it. It comes from one of the creators behind
