It only took the Blair Oaks Falcons just 4:07 into Friday night’s game to score a touchdown in all three phases. Dylan Hair had a 50-yard rushing touchdown, Bryson Varner had a 31-yard fumble return for a touchdown and Joey Wilde returned a kickoff 60 yards for a score in those opening minutes, propelling the Falcons to a 65-6 Homecoming victory against the Versailles Tigers at the Falcon Athletic Complex.
This wasn’t how the season was supposed to end for the Blair Oaks Falcons. Not after a dominant regular season, not after winning 23 games in a row and especially not on their home court in their new high school gym. But geography paired the second-ranked Falcons and the fourth-ranked Father Tolton Trailblazers in the same district, meaning one of the two Final Four-caliber teams was going to have its season end in the Class 4 District 9 Tournament. It just wasn’t the Falcons’ day.

Winning in the Tri-County Conference has become second nature for the Blair Oaks boys basketball team. The Falcons secured their 43rd consecutive conference win Saturday, wrapping up the regular season with an 80-47 victory against the School of the Osage Indians on Senior Day.
