From nbc news, this is today with matt lauer and savannah guthrie. Live from studio 1a in rockefeller plaza. And good morning. Welcome to today on thursday morning. Im matt lauer along with hoda kotb. I got emails from people overnight who say they heard little portions of the song you have put together on the internet overnight. Yes, sneak on there, Sarah Bareilles and cyndi lauper, its raining, it is sticky outside the high school is packed with supporters supporting pediatric cancer, so thank you to everybody that came out to support it. Terrific. Maybe we can get it on itunes. That would be great. We will have the premier of that video in a little while. Lets get to our top story, a busy morning for you, al, widespread flooding in the south and soaking rains in the east. Thats for sure. We will start in texas, where yesterday
Based on sfaemfamily alone integratets got to be based on sommer it and family contribution. That has to be dealt with as well. Yet you have 12 to 20 Million People in this country that have lived here for more than a decade, otherwise havent violated the laws. I get all that. What ive learned is you cant even have a conversation about that until people believe and know not just believe but its proven to them that futile Legal Immigration will be controlled. That is the single biggest lesson of the last two years. I think everybody in this room would agree with this. Whenever there is a budget deal made and they talk about tax increases and were going to have spending cuts. You get the tax increase on day one and then the spending cuts ten years later never happen. Yes. Isnt it the same thing with immigration . That was the strongest argument made against the bill, and its proven to be true because the president once, but not twice, has basically said by executive order i wont violate
Are two halves i know. Lets take a look. Today, temperatures once again really warm outside. There that you wear. Warm conditions. You know that its really feeling like afternoon. By a very mild temperatures today will be 11 degrees above the average. 79 degrees already. Typically we make 81. Areas which have seen the rain had also seen the cooled down. 66 in waukegan. Nine degrees cooler in some areas. The radar shows light showers across the area heavier rain continues to do well off to the north. Heres the day planner pierre take your umbrella there is a good chance of showers and storms to develop again tonight. Our temperature will fall down to 72 tonight. I have one crash early on at 57 heading south bound at 111. Watch for an added delay. Otherwise the rest of the roads look good. Some overnight roadwork the we will review and a few minutes. We begin with breaking news this morning out of wisconsin. There are reports of two tornadoes in the madison, wisconsin, area. One in madis
Diverse group of people. I think certainly we see enough Central Americans so we are aware of the country conditions which are as these two other speakers have described them it is extremely difficult and especially for the young people that are fleeing the Gang Violence and unfortunately the law is not on their side in terms of asylum but there are other venues and avenue of relief that would be available to them. It is important for us to recognize its not just about mexico, central america, south america and the caribbean. Its the broken immigration affects people from throughout the entire world. I remember having a conversation with senator kennedy about the number of irish men and women who are here in this country without documents so that is not just a latino or third world issue there are people all over the globe who come here on say a student visa and overstay. You have people from the developed world who are here in the United States illegally so when you look at this issue
