BOLTON locals have told how they are “living in total fear” as the deadly Indian coronavirus variant sweeps through the town, killing hopes of summer freedom.
The streets are empty and the area is turning into a “ghost town”, with people afraid to leave their homes after experts warned the Covid strain could cause 1,000 deaths a day.

The announcement of the country moving another step closer to normality. lifted the spirit of the nation.
Marc Payne choked back tears a couple of times as he explained to a group of around two dozen what it meant to him to serve as a council member for the past three years.
âIâve really enjoyed working here,â Payne said during a reception in his honor. âI have put many years in the city, and itâs meant quite a lot to me. And I appreciate the support and the trust that you all have given me.â
Payne officially lost his re-election bid Nov. 3 when he finished third in voting among four candidates for his Place 6 seat.
