Independent candidates in Waukegan and North Chicago, contenders for offices in other municipalities in Lake County as well as people running for other public positions like school boards, park boards, library boards and other positions can begin filing petitions Dec. 12 and have until 5 p.m. Dec. 19 to file in the appropriate place.

HIGHLAND PARK, IL Polls are closed in Highland Park following contested races City Council and Park District of Highland Park Board of Commissioners.
Voters chose three new councilmembers from among six candidates and two new park commissioners from among three hopefuls.
There will be at least two new faces on the Highland Park City Council next month, as incumbent councilmembers Daniel Kaufman and Alyssa Knobel decided not to seek reelection.
