Centre blocks 16 YouTube channels for spreading disinformation - The action against the channels came for spreading disinformation related to national security, foreign relations and public order.
As per the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, 18 of 22 blocked YouTube channels had their origin in India while four belonged to Pakistan. The videos posted by Pakistan-based YouTube channels were mostly anti-India.

A statement by the I&B ministry said the blocked YouTube channels that had a combined viewership of over 260 crores were used for spreading fake news on sensitive topics like national security and India s foreign policy.
