Ahmed kathrada was sentenced to Life Imprisonment alongside Nelson Mandela on Robben Island, spending 26 years of his life in prison. On their release, Nelson Mandela persuaded him tojoin him in government, an experience he did not like, but he has never stopped campaigning for the ideals of freedom on which the Anti Apartheid Movement was based. On lectures in history, Georgetown University professor Maurice Jackson teaches a class on the philosophy of w. E. B. Dubois, an author and civil rights activist in the late 18th late 19th and early 20th centuries. He described his early life, role as an educator, and relationship with other activists of the time.
