the cross-examination and really the prosecution, ana, is taking her to task. you re an overs for 26 years. you may not have had to deploy your taser but certainly you pulled it out. you know where your taser belongs. you ve been turnaround on this before. not only are you trained on this but you do the training with respect to that, and even though you haven t had to use it nor your firearm, you know where each one belongs. you know the design distinctions between the two. you know the weight, although she wouldn t admit it, the discrepancies between the two and you know better, so with the prosecution really taking her to task on that, what s the end game in the end game is to demonstrate that you were negligent, right? right, this is not about intent. no one is saying she meant to kill daunte wright. what they are saying, the prosecution, is that you were reckless with respect to making that mistake and, by the way, isn t part of your training in real life situations that really mir
the objection is overruled. i think you answered? you may answer if you didn t. yes. and just to be more specific the taser is yellow, right? yes. the firearm is black, correct? the taser weighs as half a much as your loaded glock, right? that s what that was. i testified to them early but i don t know? when it comes to the taser 7 that you had just then recertified that were certified to use. your department used long range cartridges for that taser 7, correct? i don t know. you were trained to use it, correct? i don t know now. i don t remember. you don t remember being
trained to use the taser 7 at all? no, i remember being trained, but i don t remember today what cartridges we were issued. okay. so you went out on the street with a taser not knowing what that taser did? i would assume that on the day i worked i would know but why. it s been months now. okay. no reason to dispute that the brooklyn center police department used long range cartridges in the taser 7, correct? no. and the reason to do that would be that you could fire farther distance with your taser and you wouldn t need to approach someone up close, correct? i don t know. i would assume so, but i m not positive. that s why somebody would use a long range car tobin bridge as opposed to a the show range car tobin cartobin bridge? yes. and you ve been trained on taser.
obviously emotional about having taken another human being s life, what is she reckless? was it foreseeable? did she not guard against the risk that the use of the wrong we orange the firearm rather than the taser, makes it criminally culpable? culpable negligence. that s what the jury is looking at. at no point, i think the prosecutor is very smart here not to try to hone in and say a-ha, this is sub-who had it out for daunte wright. that s not what the evidence seems to show nor what her statements have been nor what the law actually requires, and we re seeing a theme here, right? a number of cases we ve seen in ent times where the defendant has taken the stand in his or her own defense now, and there s been an emotional thread in terms of it. at the end of the day this, case is distinct because intent is not a calculation of the prosecution. let s play that moment when you talked about the taser and the gun being very different, including how they function, how
