This morning, caltrans blew up the last two piers of the old bay bridge, finishing the project a year ahead of schedule. Youre watching video of the final implosion that happened 30 minutes ago. Caltrans demolished 11 piers this year. Chp officials closed the bay bridge to traffic as a precaution. You can see traffic is now moving in both directions. There is a slowdown in the cash lanes. Tomorrow marks 81 years since the bridge first opened. They zoomed through many east bay communities a few weeks ago. This weekend, hundreds of motorcyclists may cause problems again.
