Georgia Farm Bureau members elect new president MACON, Ga. - Georgia Farm Bureau (GFB) members elected Tom McCall for a two-year term as president of Georgia’s largest general farm organization on Dec. 8.  McCall of Elbert County grows wheat, oats, triticale, grain corn, sweet corn and hay. The McCall family also raises beef cattle, hogs and sheep. McCall replaces Gerald Long, who retired from the position after serving as GFB president since 2016. Long, of Bainbridge, served on the GFB Board of Directors in various roles since 1999 including GFB 9th District director, GFB South Georgia vice  president and GFB 1st vice president.

Farm Bureau Establishes 2021 Policies Tuesday Jan 19th, 2021 Farmer and rancher delegates to the American Farm Bureau Federation’s 102nd Annual Convention today adopted policies to guide the organization’s work in 2021. Key topics ranged from farm diversity to farm labor and dairy policy to livestock marketing. For the first time in AFBF history, delegates met and voted virtually due to COVID-19. “Our Farm Bureau delegates showed that no challenge, not even a pandemic, will keep them from working to improve the lives of America’s farmers and ranchers,” said AFBF President Zippy Duvall. “Their work not only sets policy for 2021, it will also serve as a guide for AFBF as we prepare to work with a new president and a new Congress to ensure we continue to lead the world in producing healthy and safe food, fiber and fuel.”

Idahoans tapped for American Farm Bureau committees

Three Idaho farmers have been chosen to serve on American Farm Bureau Federation committees. AFBF represents farmers and ranchers across the U.S. It works with state Farm Bureau organizations to protect producers’ rights, educate people about agriculture and promote the industry. The Idaho Farm Bureau said in a release that Alan Clark of the Rigby area and Kyle and Jessica Wade of Downey will serve two-year terms on AFBF committees starting in March. Clark is a fifth-generation farmer and rancher. He has 500 beef cows and farms 1,500 acres of hay, barley and wheat. He was selected to serve on AFBF’s 10-member Promotion and Education Committee.
