Officer stable following stabbing incident | The Graham Leader

UPDATED 8:27 p.m. A Graham Police Department officer is in stable condition following an officer-involved shooting which resulted in the death of a suspect. GPD received a call around 12:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 5 regarding a suspicious man with a knife on the road near the intersection of Hillcrest and Morado Streets, according to a release from the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Anderson accepts plea in Niko animal cruelty case

One of two men involved in the case of Niko, an abused dog who garnered support from the community, was convicted and arrested today. Zackery Anderson was sentenced to 100 days in the Young County Jail after accepting a plea in county court this week for the March 2023 offense of animal cruelty. The charge was related to Niko, a Dogo Argentino dog, which was surrendered to the Humane Society of Young County.

5-year-old injured on new Firemen s Park playground

An accident last week at Firemen’s Park sent a 5-year-old Throckmorton girl to the hospital, after her fingers were caught in a new piece of playground equipment. Local first responders were dispatched to Firemen’s Park shortly after 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 28, following a report of a child having her fingers trapped in a piece of playground equipment. When officers from Graham Police Department arrived at the park, they observed a crowd of people around the “merry-go-round,” as well as an off-duty Graham EMS employee, who was attempting to calm the child.
