“Friendship, social activities and giving back to the community” were the goals of the York Women’s Association when it was founded as the Young Women’s Club of York in February 1941.
Although the name has changed, the objectives remain the same across 80 years, according to Beth Jacoby, current president, and Carol Miller incoming president of the organization.
That name change occurred in 2017 to more accurately reflect the demographics of the club’s 50 members (“including honorary members”), now ranging in age from their “late 20s to 97 years old,” Beth noted.
