Creative industry can improve fortunes of Lagos –Sanwo-Olu Tofarati Ige Published 8 May 2021 The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has said that if properly harnessed, the creative industry can improve the fortunes of the state. The governor spoke at the launch of ‘Creative Lagos’ in partnership with Del -York Creative Academy, which held both virtually and on the Victoria Island area of the state on Thursday. Creative Lagos is a special creative industry capacity building programme sponsored by the state government to equip 1,000 talented young people. Lagos govt announces N1Billion seed capital for creativity, tourism sectors The Lagos state government says the funds will support the creative ideas of producers who are constrained by funds to bring their concepts to reality. ADVERTISEMENT Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos on Thursday said his administration has set aside a N1 billion seed capital to boost the creativity and tourism sectors in the state. The governor disclosed this at the inauguration of a 9-member committee on Film Production Empowerment for Lagos State at the Banquet Hall, Lagos House, Marina. The committee is made of core industry practitioners which include Richard Mofe-Damijo, veteran filmmaker Tunde Kelani, Founder AMAA Peace Anyiam Osigwe, Film and TV producers Mo Abudu and Kunle Afolayan.

LASG Creative Initiative Partners Creative Institutions to Empower 1500 Filmmakers

Rebecca Ejifoma The Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture in partnership with two creative training institutions, Del-York and Ebonyilife Academies, has launched the Lagos State Creative Industry Initiative (LACI) to equip 1480 practitioners with world class skills. The initiative, as stated, will serve as a training platform for practitioners in the creative industry, and to boost the use of modern technology, enhance content and quality of entertainment. The free training, which is billed for March, aims to make Lagos State a destination for a skilled, workforce for the creative industries while boosting the state’s economy. Some of the skills lined up for the programme include Script Writing, Directing, Cinematography, Filmmaking, and Fashion and Style, Digital Filmmaking, Documentary Filmmaking, Digital Marketing, Fashion, Arts & Crafts, Film Post-Production, Producing and the Business of Filmmaking.
