Cumbria County Council s director of public health, Colin Cox, and other experts have been reinforcing the importance of having the vaccine following a recent ONS report. The study into vaccine hesitancy stated that younger people, aged 16 to 29, were the most vaccine-hesitant age group in England. It also said that ‘side effects’, ‘long-term effects on health’ and ‘how well the vaccine works’ were the top three reasons for reporting vaccine hesitancy.
It was announced that a Covid vaccination site will open in Workington today. Pharmacy2U will occupy a former Topshop site at Dunmail Park, with the full team of staff made up of ex-Arcadia employees. Dunmail Park is shopping mall between Maryport and Workington. There has been a largely positive reaction on social media: Sheila Southen: “Got sent the link to book and got booked no problem, both at Dunmail and had confirmation straight away. My NHS letter arrived a couple of days later but already sorted.” Adam Paul: “The vaccine roll out has been very good. Just imagine if the NHS had been given the Track and Trace contract instead of a private company with no experience of track and trace.
