Alabama s Peyton Wilson Cashes In With Kansas City Royals

Former University of Alabama second baseman Peyton Wilson has agreed to a full slot value deal with the Kansas City Royals. Wilson was drafted with the No. 66 overall pick in the 2021 MLB First Year Player Draft last week. His agreement with the Royals pays him $1,003,300 according to Jim Callis of MLB Pipeline. The Hoover, Al. native spent the last two seasons playing multiple positions for the Alabama baseball team. Wilson earned two honors for his second season in college baseball. Wilson earned a place on the All-SEC Second Team and Newcomer All-SEC Team. Wilson led the the Crimson Tide in hits (72), runs (46) and stolen bases (10) while tying for second in doubles (13) this year for the Crimson Tide. Wilson recorded nine home runs this season with five to lead off a game.

Gibson Named to SEC Softball Community Service Team

Jacob Pavilack May 12, 2021 FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas softball infielder Danielle Gibson has been an instrumental part of the community with her efforts off the field. In the last year, she has participated in over 30 community service hours. Gibson helped cook dinner for local service missionaries and church volunteers. Even during the pandemic, she stepped up by writing letters to the Miracle League and frontline COVID-19 workers and sent videos to kids at Arkansas Children’s Hospital. For accumulating the most community service hours of any Razorback student-athlete, Gibson was awarded the Lee Spencer Individual Champion Award at this year’s HOGSPY Awards. Gibson also excels in the classroom and earned SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll honors.
