The depression formed over the Bay of Bengal intensified into a cyclonic storm on Friday. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the storm is unlikely to affect Odhisha and Andhra Pradesh coast. However, heavy rains are expected in north-east regions including Tripura, Nagaland and Mizoram
It is expected to intensify further into a cyclone on May 11 and a very severe cyclonic storm by May 12 over southeast and adjoining central Bay of Bengal.
Meanwhile, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands administration has already issued alerts and public advisories due to the cyclonic circulation over Bay of Bengal.
