Yancey County Reports Two COVID-19 Deaths, AppHealthCare Resumes Case Reporting After a short break for the Christmas holidays, AppHealthCare has resumed COVID-19 updates on their dashboard. As of Tuesday, there were 98 active cases in Watauga, a total of 2896, and 19 deaths. In Ashe, there were 57 active cases, a total of 1378, and 33 deaths. Alleghany had 39 active cases, 678 total, and 4 deaths reported. Across the three county district, 543 individuals are being actively monitored, and there has been a total of 95 hospitalizations since the pandemic began. Yancey County Health Department, part of the Toe River Health District, was notified Tuesday of two CoVID-19 related deaths. One individual was in their 90’s and one individual was in their 80’s. This brings the total number of deaths in Yancey County to eleven.

Four COVID-19 Related Deaths In Yancey County Yancey County Health Department was notified Tuesday of four CoVID-19 related deaths. This brings the total number of deaths to eight. One individual was in their 90’s, one individual was in their 80’s, one individual was in their 70’s and one individual was in their 50’s. NCDHHS reports Avery has had a total of 1196 cases, Mitchell 711 cases, and Yancey 803. AppHealthCare has reported 2646 total cases in Watauga, 1212 in Ashe and 583 in Alleghany. There have now been 17 deaths in Watauga, 26 in Ashe and 2 in Alleghany.
