You can see there are traffic investigators here trying to gather all the information that they can. But the woman involved in this fatal crash was in the crosswalk here at 33rd and mckee. Witnesses tell police that theres no question that the pedestrian had the right of way because at this intersection when you press a button the lights start flashing. Now, a number of cars stopped to let the woman go by. But a driver heading westbound did not stop. He was traveling at a high rate of speed. The woman was thrown about 40 or 50 feet. When the paramedics arrived, they say she had a faint heartbeat but she was taken to a local hospital, where she died. Right now what were looking for is either chevy tahoe or suburban. It was light in color. We dont know if its silver, light brown, but we did get some good information from our witness. And right now were investigating the incident. Sound the alarm about ebola dangers. They say an overwhelming majority of hospitals are not going a good job training their nurses on how to protect themselves from the disease. They say hospitals lack policies and proper protective equipment. National nurses united is now calling for all u. S. Hospitals to immediately implement a full Emergency Preparedness plan for ebola. When the nurses become infected, they are blamed for not following the protocols. That is not going to work. We cannot blame the Health Care Providers who are on the front lines who are risking their lives to provide care for patients and who are then faced with possible infection themselves and infecting their families and community members. Good afternoon, allen martin in for frank mallicoat. And im michelle griego. New at noon, rescue crews airlifted a woman out of a south bay ravine. She had been stuck there since yesterday. Kpix 5s kiet do joins us from Regional Medical center in san jose. Reporter michelle, that 28 yearold woman was flown directly here to Regional Medical center. Shes in the hospital now. She has moderate to serious injuries to the lower part of her body and we have the dramatic video from chopper 5 shot earlier today. The agencies involved were a lot of them, there were seven different agencies involved and coast guard was one of them. San jose firefighters rappeled and gave the woman first aid and then on the stretcher. The helicopters was able to wind her up and flew her to the hospital. She went off the roadway sometime around 2 00 p. M. Monday afternoon. That white cruz rolled over a couple of times and then came to rest on its roof. Police say the incident happened this month in his classroom. The teacher faces lewd acts with a child. Detectives are working with the school to warn parents and to look for other victims. Berkeley police are investigating three reported sexual assaults that happened at fraternities near the cal campus. The victims say the attacks happened near the south side of the campus. The name of the fraternity houses are not being released. There was a third assault that same day and it might have happened as a fraternity.
