Texas A&M bounces back from 1st loss with win over Miss St

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) No. 7 Texas A&M put its first loss of the season behind it in a big way with a 69-41 victory over No. 14 Mississippi State on Sunday.
The Aggies (13-1, 4-1 SEC), coming off a 65-61 overtime loss at unranked LSU, scored the first five points against Mississippi State (8-4, 3-3) and never trailed, snapping a seven-game losing streak to the Bulldogs.
“We didn’t let the LSU loss discourage us from this game,” Kayla Wells said. “We came out and had a lot of energy. We knew we needed to win this game.”

While the Bulldogs started the game on fire, the Crimson Tide ultimately found a way to show up when it mattered most.
Myah Taylor and Rickea Jackson led the way in points with 15 apiece. Jessika Carter was held in check, as she posted just 10. Xaria Wiggins and Madison Hayes combined for 18. Wiggins shot 3-4 from distance.
All five Alabama starters were in double-figures. Guard Jordan Lewis filled the statline with 22 points and seven boards. Forward Jasmine Walker added a double-double that included 17 points along with 10 rebounds.
While Aliyah Matharu struggled scoring wise, Myah Taylor is starting to find her way offensively. If Matharu can return to form, look for coach Nikki McCray-Penson to keep her in the starting lineup going forward.
