The FCHS Board met Thursday evening for their regular monthly meeting. With the new board being seated, outgoing board members Chris Miller, JC McDuffee , and Tony Conrad were presented with appreciation gifts for their many years of service to the board. New members seated were Eddie Barbre, Nate Carter, and Derek Smothers. The old board acted on several items before the new board was seated. They included: Certifying election results from April 4, 2023 Approve doors for the gym lobby project at a cost of $47,000 Approve plumbing for the gym lobby at a cost of $2,675 Approve HVAC work for the gym lobby at a cost of $11,600 Approve concrete repair for the gym lobby at a cost of $12,880 Approve roof repair for the gym lobby at a cost of $49,700 The new members were administered the Oath of Office and were seated. The Edwards County School District will conduct a pre-school round-up next month for children up to five years old who will not be eligible for kindergarten next year. For students in the Albion attendance area, the screening will be held on March 8
th from 8:30 to 2:30 at the First Christian Church. West Salem students will be screened on the 9
th from 8:30 to 2:30 at the Moravian Church. Appointments are required for the free program; Albion area residents can call 445-2325, and West Salem area residents should call 456-8881.
