Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting Deputy Justin Taylor and Shift Sgt. John Inman were called out to assist Deputy Landry Collett. Deputy Collett had pulled over a vehicle which had failed to signal at a business parking lot off KY 312. During the stop the driver, Robert Havens, Jr exhibited suspicious behavior. Deputies discovered Havens had suspected methamphetamine, digital scales and pills. He was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and prescription controlled substances not in proper container. Havens was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.

Kentucky House Speaker David Osbourne (R-Prospect) this week said the House of Representatives will send a citizen’s petition calling for the impeachment of Rep. Robert Goforth (R-East Bernstadt) to the same impeachment committee investigating a petition to impeach Gov. Andy Beshear, according to the Lexington Herald Leader. The committee was formed because state law requires the Speaker of the House to form an impeachment committee once petitions are filed by members of the public. Rep. Goforth challenged and lost to sitting Republican then-Governor Matt Bevin in the 2019 gubernatorial primary. Rep. Goforth was indicted in September on charges of assault and strangulation. He easily won re-election in November with nearly 71 percent of the vote. The newspaper reports that Wednesday’s petition against Rep. The Williamsburg Police Department is investigating the death of a woman which officials have labeled as “suspicious”. Police Found Amy N. Freeman dead in her apartment back on November 13, 2015. After an investigation, they labeled the incident a “suspicious death” but have not ruled out homicide. Police say they have received new information and followed up on it. The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office says a traffic stop led to two arrests. During the roadside investigation deputies found meth, a substance suspected to be heroin and over $9,000 in cash in the car. The driver, 48-year-old Eric Nicholas of Somerset, was arrested and charged with two counts of trafficking in a controlled substance, failure to produce proof of insurance and being a persistent felony offender. Nicholas has a previous charge of trafficking in a controlled substance from 2017, along with evading police in 2012. A passenger, 22-year-old Autumn Decker of McKee, was also arrested and charged with disorderly conduct. Both were lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center.
