Somerset 106 spoke with Forcht Broadcasting political contributor James Taylor, political science professor at Somerset Community College, regarding Tuesday’s events in Washington D.C. Below are bullet points from the conversation about the protests and about Congress’ constitutional obligation to certify the electoral college results. Below are James Taylor’s remarks to our questions.
â¢Congress does not have to certify on January 6th the electoral college votes for President of the United States. This date is just typically the date on which Congress makes this certification. Congress is obligated, though, to certify the votes by Inauguration Day on January 20th. Congress has two hours to debate any objections made by Congress to the electoral college votes.

Vaccination for COVID 19 began December 23rd across the Lake Cumberland District. Each of the
ten health departments received limited doses of the vaccine. These doses were given to
