News provided by Hospice of Lake Cumberland:
Hospice of Lake Cumberland provides comfort and support during life’s most challenging times, not only to patients, but to their families as well. Helping people is the Hospice mission. Euretha Godby, Executive Director of Hospice, and Robin Tarter, Hospice Board of Directors, believed a way to help Hospice patient caregivers would be to help them schedule a COVID vaccine, so developed a vaccination program.
Finding an appointment for a vaccine can be a test of will for even the most patient and technologically sophisticated. Searching for these appointments takes a great deal of time and effort, and it was clear that volunteers would be needed. With the help of Melissa Winstead, Student Ambassador Coordinator at SCC, volunteers were found.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) has announced plans for safety improvements at the U.S. 27/KY 70 intersection in Pulaski County.
During a virtual meeting with local officials on Wednesday, KYTC engineers shared plans for the construction of a Restricted Crossing U-turn (RCUT) at the intersection. The project will also include right-turn lanes onto KY 70.
An RCUT intersection prohibits direct left turns from the side street and creates a two-stage process for left turns and straight through movements from the side street. Motorists turning left or traveling straight across from KY 70 will turn right to proceed to the custom left turn lane provided to make a U-turn. Once in the left turn lane, motorists will complete the U-turn when traffic is clear. The RCUT intersection improves sight distance and allows motorists to focus on traffic coming from one way at a time.
